At Southend News Network, we would like to apologise officially as one of our stories based upon a really, really, REALLY bad joke about the Toyota showroom in Rayleigh has inadvertently made it onto a list of official incidents of antisemitism.
On March 16th 2017, we noticed that the first ‘T’ of ‘Toyota’ in their illuminated sign had stopped working, which left the word ‘oyota’ – this could be thought of as a really bad attempt at antisemitism.
We know. Crap joke, but we make plenty of them.
Unfortunately, and we have no idea what the hell they were thinking when they read it, but the ‘incident’ has actually been logged by the Coordination Forum for Countering Antisemitism.
We can only apologise for putting part of a Rayleigh industrial estate onto a global ‘map of shame’ for fighting against hate crime towards Jewish people.
The fact that the Chief Reporter once had one of those Yaris models with the shite brakes has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Either researchers at the CFCA made a huge error of judgement on this one, or they are desperate to exaggerate the issue of antisemitism by referencing stories that are completely made up.
Here’s how they describe their organisation:
The Coordination Forum for Countering Antisemitism is a National forum that monitors antisemitic activities throughout the world. It coordinates the struggle against this phenomenon with various government bodies and Jewish organizations around the world.
The Forum receives information on antisemitic activity from a variety of sources, checks this information and publishes it in regular reports.
The Forum convenes periodically to hear updated reports and establish policy on how to counter different forms of antisemitism.
Israel, as the Jewish State gives the highest priority to the security of Jewish communities around the world and has undertaken to do everything in its power to eradicate anti-Jewish activity.
The struggle against antisemitism must unfortunately persist and requires our constant attention. This entails learning and understanding the extent of the phenomenon and recruiting all the relevant resources to fight it wherever and whenever it appears.
